Job Title Director of Corporate Reporting
Comp Range $110K -120K

Job Description

The Director of Corporate Reporting will also be expected to support Senior Management with the Company’s continued acquisition focus and with the Company’s tax regulatory compliance program.

Although the successful candidate should have clearly defined experience and success in a senior corporate office role, the position is more suited for an individual that can exercise sound judgment and ability to work with all levels of Management to drive the already successful business forward.

• Timely preparation, presentation, management and analyses over the Company’s consolidation of financial results on a quarterly and annual basis (in accordance with Canadian GAAP/IFRS). Preparation/review/approval of complex accounting entries at the corporate level.

• Monitor and oversee the Company’s existing IFRS conversion plan.

• Research, presentation and discussion of financial statement note disclosure.

• Act as key corporate resource for accounting treatment of complex transactions; remain current on existing/proposed regulatory and accounting pronouncements (e.g. IFRS); assess and present the impact of such pronouncements on the Company’s reporting to Senior Management.

• Assist in the finalization of the Company’s publicly released documents such Management’s Discussion and Analysis, Annual Information Form, Management Information Circular and Press Releases.

• 6. Oversee the annual external audit process; act as the main point of contact with the Company’s external auditors. Coordination of divisional year end audit working papers and liaise with the external auditors as necessary.

• Act as a resource with the Company’s acquisition team and with the Company’s tax regulatory compliance program.

• Provide insight into the Company’s treasury function including interaction with the Company’s banking agents and monitoring/managing foreign currency risk.

• Assist in the development, maintenance and implementation of accounting and reporting policies and instructions.

• Oversee the Company’s insurance program; liaise with the Company’s external insurance advisor to ensure adequate mitigation of risks.

• Assist in the Company’s annual budgeting process.

• Train and develop corporate accounting team members and give constructive feedback and positive reinforcement as required.

• Special projects as assigned by Corporate Office Senior Management.
 


 

Job Requirements

Experience and Technical Skills:

• An undergraduate degree combined with a professional accounting designation (CA).

• Hands on, roll up the sleeves professional with a demonstrated track record of success in a corporate reporting role in a public company. Although previous experience in the position’s specific duties is ideal, more important are the individual’s capability, drive and initiative to learn, adapt and execute.

• Solid knowledge of current accounting principles and rules (Canadian GAAP) and a general understanding of IFRS. An individual able to exercise sound judgment based upon appropriate and sufficient review and analysis of the facts at hand.

• An open and articulate communicator with strong analysis, presentation and written communication skills. Able to effectively explain and persuade management on contentious issues that could lead to added value, improved bottom line results and/or promote efficient and effective use of company resources.

• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Enjoys working in an unstructured and dynamic, yet supportive, team environment. Has an outgoing approachable style with a proven ability to develop proactive partnership across all organizational levels.

• Proven strategic thinking ability to apply a “bottom line”, results-oriented approach. Excellent analytical skills, and applies a creative approach to problem solving.

• Capable of working independently and autonomously while at the same time contributes effectively as a member of the Senior Management Team; considers themselves a major contributor in the achievement of operational and financial goals of the Company.

• An individual not afraid to bring forth new ideas and be considered an enabler who champions best practices to promote organizational effectiveness. Demonstrate a commitment to quality performance, continual improvement, elimination of waste, attention to detail, and adherence to deadlines.

• Proficient with PC applications including the MS Office.

• Valid drivers' license, and ready access to a motor vehicle for periodic travel throughout the lower mainland as needed. Ability and desire to travel inter-provincially on a periodic as needed basis.

• High ethical core belief system and commitment to life long learning, personal and professional development and continuous improvement.
